What We've Done

In our endeavor to enhance the hospital experience for patients, families, and staff at HCA, we undertook a transformative project to infuse color into the core of the hospital—its elevators. HCA's vision was clear: to create a more welcoming and user-friendly environment, where elevators not only served as functional conveyances but also as intuitive navigational aids. Our design approach was both elegant and pragmatic. We introduced a harmonious color scheme, with distinct hues—green, orange, blue, and pink—representing different towers within the hospital complex. This not only added vibrancy to the previously nondescript elevator spaces but also simplified wayfinding for all users. Navigating through the hospital became an intuitive and visually engaging experience, where each elevator color corresponded to a specific area. The simplicity of our design belies its profound impact on the overall atmosphere of HCA. By infusing color strategically, we transformed sterile elevator rides into moments of comfort and orientation.
