Revitalizing a traditional hospital into a modern, patient-friendly healthcare facility.
Installation: FastSigns Brandon
Many people equate hospital visits with sterile waiting rooms and unwelcoming environments. However, our partners at HCA aim to change this perception. We were delighted to assist them in this endeavor, collaborating with their board of directors to brand each part of their hospital, one building at a time.
Prior to the project, HCA Brandon exhibited a typical hospital aesthetic: white and grey. However, with their new tower expansions, each serving different purposes such as ER, Maternity, Rehabilitation, Surgery, and so on, they sought to distinguish these towers from one another. The need for a more patient-friendly space was clear, and a strong desire to deviate from the traditional hospital environment was apparent.
During the project, we focused on these objectives:
We assisted the hospital in establishing Pantone colors for each tower. These colors were applied not only on elevator wraps but also on directional markers and signage. Considering the hospital's large size, our goal was to simplify wayfinding for visitors. Therefore, we chose a straightforward design where the floor number and corresponding tower color served as the main indicators.
Our colleagues at FastSigns of Brandon were instrumental in installing the wraps on each floor. They skillfully handled problem-solving for measurements and worked efficiently within the active hospital environment.
The project resulted in highly positive outcomes. The color-coding system was well-received by both staff and patients, improving navigation and creating a more vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The newly expanded building now showcases a fresh, modern aesthetic that departs from the traditional hospital environment, aligning with HCA Hospital's vision for a more patient-friendly space.
